This will be your portal to the LocoMotion Fitness virtual studio which will offer online recorded dance fitness classes via the ZIN Studio (accessible via sfransila.zumba.com). Tech issues have delayed the opening of the virtual studio, but I am hoping to go online in October with a free launch during Active Aging Week. Stay tuned to LocoMotion Fitness on Facebook for breaking news on this front.
I will be starting with 2-3 recorded classes Monday through Friday. Each class will be 30-35 minutes. The reason for this is twofold: (1) We are all getting back into our workout regimes after a COVID hiatus, so shorter classes will allow you to ease back into activity; and (2) science has shown that the average adult attention span is 32-42 minutes when watching something on a screen. You will be able to choose one of the classes or you can take as many as you want when you want. Classes will be designed so that you can take 2 back to back classes for a full workout without repeating the same warm-up. Classes will be available after 8 a.m. and you can access any time that day. Passes will give you access to all classes that day, week, or month.
I will likely start with a cardio/toning class, the Zumba Gold® classes you know and love, and a core/balance class, Zumba Gold® with a focus on core strengthening and balance. Down the road I would like to add a “burst” class, Zumba Gold® with short, intense cardio bursts.
Live streamed classes are also on the drawing table at this time, but that option brings many challenges some of you may already be aware of through other zoom-ba classes.
The rationale behind the virtual studio is that live studio classes will be smaller, so spaces will get reserved quickly. Alternatively, my live studio schedule may not fit with your schedule or you may not yet feel comfortable joining even an exercise class with others who are working out at a moderate level of intensity. The virtual studio will give you the opportunity to work out at home on days when coming to the live studio doesn’t work for you. I am looking forward to “seeing” all of you in your living rooms soon.
